Springvale 4x4 Route:
The route departs at the entrance of the Wild Camp on Springvale, about 3 km
from the Cottage. With a difficulty level of 2 - 3, the route duration
varies from
about 3 - 4 hours. You will find sign boards as you go along, directing you
on either the 4x4 or the 4x2 route through the thick undergrowth. Part of
the route runs along an old train track that was demolished in the earlier
days. The train track route ends at the dam, where you can relax and cool
off in the water.
From this point forward, the route develops into steep ascents to the highest
peak, named Viewpoint. Viewpoint offers a 360° view of the vineyards,
as well as the game.
Game in the camp at present: BLUE WILDEBEEST, RED HARTEBEEST, GEMSBOK, BLESBOK,
SPRINGBOK, IMPALA, ELAND, ZEBRA & KUDU
On the way down, steep descents await the driver, low range is extremely important
and must be used at all times. The route passes two camp sites, the only point
where you are allowed to have a barbecue.
The last highlight of the trip is the beautiful view whilst travelling over the
dam wall - this is the perfect spot for bird watching.
You exit the route the way you entered.
